Dr Karan Bhatia

Dr. Karan Bhatia is a Senior Consultant at Manaktala Eye & Maternity Home, Meerut, UP, India.

He obtained his DOMS degree from RIO, Sitapur, UP, India receiving the prestigious Dr. M. K. Mehray Award for the best DOMS student (Gold Medal Equivalent). He then went on to pursue secondary DNB degree from the world renowned Aravind Eye Hospital, Puducherry, India followed by a fellowship in Phacoemulsification from Venu Eye Institute, Delhi, India. 

He then pursued his passion, a fellowship in Cornea, Phacoemulsification and Refractive Surgery from M. M. Joshi Eye Institute (MMJEI), Hubbali, Karnataka, India under Dr. K. V. Satyamurthy and Dr. R. Krishnaprasad. 

He has also done a Lamellar Corneal Surgery (DALK, DSEK, DSAEK) course in 2017 and a course in DMEK in 2021 under the world renowned surgeon Dr. Rajesh Fogla at Apollo Hospitals, Hyderabad, India. 

He has also done received special training in management of Pediatric Corneal Disorders and Medical Retina from Orbis – Sight Life, USA. He has also received special training in Keratoconus management & Refractive Surgery from Narayana Nethralaya, Bengaluru and M. M. Joshi Eye Institute, Hubli, Karnataka. 

He has been a Consultant at Centre for Sight, Delhi (Preet Vihar, Rohini, Safdarjung Enclave branches) from Jan 2018 to July 2019. 

He has also been the Head of department of Cornea Services, Head OPD Services, Head Academics & Teaching, Member Ethics Committee at Regional Institute of Ophthalmology, Sitapur Eye Hospital, Sitapur, UP from Aug 2019 to Jan 2022. 

Dr. Karan Bhatia is also an excellent cataract (Phaco/SICS) surgeon, capable of managing the most difficult cases/surgeries with excellent outcomes. He is well-known across the world (India and internationally) and has been invited to give hundreds of lectures on topics pertaining to cornea, cataract and refractive surgery. 

He is a member of All India Ophthalmological Society (AIOS), Delhi Ophthalmological Society (DOS), Meerut Ophthalmological Society, UP Ophthalmological Society (UPSOS), International Society of Manual Small Incision Cataract Surgeons (ISMSICS), Karnataka Ophthalmological Society, Cornea Society of India (CSI), Indian Society of Cornea & Keratorefractive Surgeons (ISCKRS), Association of Community Ophthalmologists of India (ACOIN), Pondicherry Ophthalmic Association (POA).
